Trump Says Harris Would Be 'Like a Play Toy' to World Leaders if Elected

In a recent interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, former President Donald Trump made controversial remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris, suggesting that she would be treated "like a play toy" by world leaders if she were elected president. Trump, known for his history of derogatory comments about female opponents, expressed his views during the interview, some of which aired on Tuesday.

Trump stated, “She’ll be so easy for them. She’ll be like a play toy. They look at her and they say we can’t believe we got so lucky. They’re gonna walk all over her.” He further added, looking directly into the camera, “I don’t want to say as to why, but a lot of people understand it.”

This is not the first time Trump has targeted women with personal attacks. During his 2016 campaign, he referred to Hillary Clinton as a "nasty woman" and "unhinged." He also mocked Carly Fiorina’s appearance and shared an unflattering photo of Heidi Cruz, wife of Senator Ted Cruz, on Twitter. Trump’s attacks on his female rivals often have a gender-based tone, including calling former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "crazy," adult film actress Stormy Daniels “horse face,” and his 2024 primary rival Nikki Haley as “birdbrain.”

Trump and his allies have consistently attacked Harris on her race and gender since she entered the presidential race, labeling her “crazy” and a “DEI vice president.” They have also mocked her laugh and called her "dumb as a rock." On Wednesday alone, Trump referred to the vice president as "Crazy Kamala" at least five times on his Truth Social website.

In response, Harris campaign spokesperson Sarafina Chitika issued a strong statement, highlighting Harris's global leadership experience. “Vice President Harris is a tested, proven global leader who has traveled to more than 20 countries and met with over 150 world leaders to strengthen America’s national security,” Chitika said. She continued, “Donald Trump wants to isolate America from the world, abandon our allies, and cozy up to dictators. Vice President Harris has rejected his worldview as dangerous, destabilizing and short-sighted. Donald Trump would make America weak.”

Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt defended Trump’s comments, stating that he was not referring to Harris’ race or gender in the interview. Instead, Leavitt criticized Harris on her record on immigration, claiming, “She is weak, dishonest and dangerously liberal, and that’s why the American people will reject her on November 5th.”

Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance, also weighed in during a speech in Nevada, repeatedly using the word "weak" to describe Harris’ leadership. “Of all of Kamala Harris’ faults, the worst of all is that she left America weak and vulnerable,” Vance said. He later clarified to NBC News that there was no “particular effort to tag her as weak,” adding that the main label they wanted the American people to be aware of was that she is an “ultra-liberal.”

As the election approaches, these comments are likely to stir further debate and scrutiny, highlighting the polarized nature of American politics and the ongoing challenges faced by women in leadership positions.
