Victims Identified in 3-Car Collision in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Tragedy struck early Saturday morning as two young lives were lost in a three-car collision in New Haven. The victims have been identified as 21-year-old Dajsha Knight of New Haven and 19-year-old Madysin Hilker of West Haven.

At approximately 1:52 a.m., officers from the New Haven Police Department responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Middletown and Barnes Avenues. Upon arrival, they discovered a chaotic scene involving three vehicles: a silver Hyundai, a silver Infiniti, and a gray Ford.

The impact of the collision was severe, with both the Hyundai and Infiniti suffering extensive front-end damage. The Ford, while also involved, sustained only minor front-end damage. Tragically, one passenger in the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene due to significant injuries sustained in the crash. The second victim, Hilker, succumbed to her injuries later at the hospital.

Emergency responders transported several occupants from all three vehicles to Yale New Haven Hospital, where their injuries were reported to range from life-threatening to minor. The New Haven Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
